Being able to go where you want when you want, which can be a bit boring at times. You are also not limited to hack / slash weapons as you can get chainsaw, shotgun, electrifying weapons and more. Boss fights are a mix of fast-paced events and more hacking, which aren’t too difficult. There are different types of enemies like Spitting Zombies (covering your screen with vomit), Singing Zombies (you have to cover your ears to avoid damage), Exploding Zombies and a variety of normal zombies that just need to be hacked. Additionally, some weapons are more effective against certain types of walking undead monsters, but don’t do a degree you really need to worry about… any weapon will effectively kill an enemy.Ī wicked-looking creation from mad Dr. I’m afraid the real issue to hear is using the control while you’re in the heat of the moment, because that’s when those easy controls get tough while you’re trying to survive. The controls are pretty easy when you get the hang of them, but can still be a bit of a nuisance at times. You should also keep in mind that this is almost a test to see how well a game like this can perform with 100% Kinect controls. When it comes to epic horror moments, there are a few in the game, but like I said, it doesn’t compare to other horror games in the present day. The story of the game is also not that deep compared to the story of the game, but there are some very cool twists that try to compensate for that. In the game, you expect a real horror festival which, sadly, just doesn’t live up to other survival horror games. Kicking an enemy is pretty literal, just like dodging, jumping, dodging, and running requires you to run in place, which sounds easy but can be harder than you think. There is a range of different weapons you can use, which can be found or dropped on enemies, but not all items last forever and you can only hold one weapon at a time. It is easy to pick up items as you just need to hold your hand on the item until the circular bar quickly fills up and then you have it. You can even step back by tilting one of your feet back. so you don’t necessarily have to stop to change direction. Other than that, all the mechanics of the game are easy, where turning left or right just requires you to turn your body slightly left or right which can also be done while running or walking, you don’t have to. The game mechanics are quite simple where walking requires stepping forward and bending over which can get boring after a while. There are a lot of Zombie Maids to kill throughout the game. You will have to fight these creatures by all means, whether by kicking them, slashing them with a crowbar or throwing vile explosives, among many other means of weapons to save your wife. Josh’s wife Kate is kidnapped as their train derails outside the medieval castle / shrine inhabited by a mad scientist named Victor, with his gruesome creations you’ll have to fend off.

You play as an alcoholic husband named Josh who travels through Eastern Europe with his pregnant wife. With Rise of Nightmares, players who are only into the most hardcore game now have a reason to get up off the couch and use their Kinect or buy one for that matter. The only enemies in the game are unique but seem to be inspired by all past horror games and it can feel a bit cheesy at times while other parts are pretty darn scary. Whether it’s walking, running, turning around, choosing weapons using them and more, it’s a real experience when you have to actually physically flee from your enemies. Sega went to great lengths to make this a truly unique experience, creating a survival horror game based on your movements through the Kinect.
